Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. By TeeWrx The whole concept behind the lock is to make it easier to get in the house without having to fumble for keys. I have two small kids and more often than not, I have to carry one or the other along with bags and such. When the Kevo works, it’s great.my four year old can be helpful and touch the lock and we’re in the house within 10 seconds. But, it DOESN’T WORK EVEN HALF THE TIME!!!!! Here’s the typical routine when we approach our front door.

Phone in pocket, tap the lock and 🙏 the blue ring turns green. 😞Pull phone out of pocket, tap the lock again. Pray blue ring turns green. 🙏 It doesn’t.

😡Launch the app, tap the lock and pray the blue ring turns green. (App is searching for the lock.) It doesn’t. 🤬 Put stuff down.

Get out keys. (App is still searching for the lock.🤬🤬) Insert key, turn and enter. (App is still searching for the lock.😑) Initiate troubleshooting sequence: kill the app.

Restart the app. 🤯Restart phone, unlock phone, launch Kevo app.lock found. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Maybe it’s because I have a first gen lock, but it did work pretty well for a stretch. Either way, they wouldn’t get my money to want to upgrade to Gen 2 at this rate.

It’s not worth the frustration. By Mark Miller iTunes It's a bummer that this product doesn't have built in wifi instead of another $99 dollar add on in addition to the $250 price tag.

I am also a bit confused with the settings in this app. Do you have to have it open all the time?

What does power save mode actually do? It doesn't adjust the location services at all.

And it doesn't matter if power save is on or off, the drop down message telling you to reopen the app to use the product still drops down. What's up with that? Very confusing overall. And kind of a bad deal without the built in wifi in that giant appliance. Also, no Apple Watch support. What's up with that? If you happen to shell out the extra $99 for the wifi adapter, it would sure be nice to control it from a watch.

I may have discovered a bug in the app. It seems whenever I have Kevo open on my phone, it disables the sound in my AirPods for the phone app. But only the phone app.

Sound works in the music app and a couple others I have. I haven’t done thorough testing, but it seems to be the case as to what is happening. As soon as I close Kevo and then make a call, the sound comes back.

By jakebozz Addendum: iOS 11 has been out for a few days, and it’s become sorely obvious that Kevo didn’t make much of an attempt to stay current. Since updating to the new iOS, I now have to take my phone out of my pocked and quit the app & restart it TWICE—EVERY TIME—before the Kevo will lock or unlock!!!! Please get on top of this new issue!!!

Original Review: I was about to rip out my Kevo locks because of the VERY slow response time to lock and unlock recently, but finally after the Kevo app's most recent upgrade along with iOS's most recent upgrade, the wait time is back to where it was — pretty fast response. Kevo: stop pretending that all is well in your generic responses to our inquiries and be upfront, explaining what the problems are, and we might be more understanding— You weren't the ones getting stuck in the rain impatiently waiting for your door to unlock. Reading other recent reviews, you lost a lot of credibility in how you handled this recent problem.

I also far prefer your previous customer service model. Compatibility: Requires iOS 9.0 or later.
